A randomised controlled trial of theta burst stimulation for the treatment of mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
Subject area of study:
Mental Health - Alzheimer's Disease
Title of study:
A randomised controlled trial of theta burst stimulation for the treatment of mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
Brief outline of the study:
We are investigating a new treatment for people with Alzheimer’s disease. Our research is examining whether transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can improve the cognitive symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease such as memory and thinking difficulties. TMS is a form on non-invasive brain stimulation which uses a magnetic pulse to stimulate brain cells. Before and after the treatment course there are a number of assessments that will be undertaken. Together we will complete an interview, do some computerised activities, and take a recording of your brain waves.
We are seeking volunteers between 50 and 95 years of age who have a diagnosis of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
